Well Mental Health Week is done and dusted for another year and we have to say that it was the biggest and the best ever. We had some amazing events and activities and my thanks to all of you who attended. Without the support of our consumers taking the time to attend Mental Health Week activities there would not be much point in us organising them.
A big thanks to our sponsors for supporting our activities – the WA Primary Health Alliance, West Australian Association for Mental Health, Lotterywest and the volunteers at SouthWest Water Based Activity Centre.
Of course the highlight for many of us was the Mental Health Week Ball held at the Quality Lighthouse on Friday 15 October. Congratulations to Amanda-Jane and her helpers for putting it all together. The room looked stunning and what an amazing selection of door prizes she had managed to procure.
Even though the weather could have been better the turnout at our midweek event at Turkey Point was amazing. We ended up with about 80 people during the course of the day enjoying the surrounds and the sausage sizzle.
The Mental Health Week Art Exhibition attracted nearly 50 entries and the standard was outstanding with many pieces being sold! It was great to have our local member of parliament the Hon. Don Punch MLA at the opening event.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held at Shifting Gears this coming Friday the 5th of November commencing at 10am. Please come along and hear for yourselves how our organisation is tracking and give your feedback (and show your appreciation) to our Board of Management. The Board give up their time freely to work with us and assist planning the strategic direction of Pathways SouthWest and make sure that we operate under sound financial and governance structures. Morning tea will be provided and at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting normal Shifting Gears activities, including lunch, will continue.
